A predawn fire razed 100 shanties in a squatters' area in Dagonoy Street, San Andres Bukid, Manila Monday. Around 500 families were rendered homeless. Two people were reported injured in the blaze that started at around 3 a.m. in the rented room of a certain Felizardo Agustin. 
Authorities estimated the damage to be around P1 million. Firefighters are still conducting mopping operations in the area.
